The extent of cyberbullying

3 million kids per month are absent from school due to bullying. 20% of kids cyberbullied think about suicide, and 1 in 10 attempt it. 4500 kids commit suicide each year. Suicide is the No. 3 killer of teens in the US.

Cyberbullying is a killer and suicide is the last resort for many young teens around the globe. This has to stop, it must end!  We need to address cyberbullying face on. Too many people shy away from the topic as they are too scared to admit to it.
It’s evident that many of us can’t always cope with the fast paced life of living in a constant sphere of social media, the emotional demands are too much, and sometimes it takes a life. It’s not to say that social media is bad, however just the immaturity of the users who feel the need to degrade others.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people with approximately 4,400 deaths every year. The CDC estimates that there are at least 100 suicide attempts for every suicide among young people. More than 14 percent of high school students have considered suicide and nearly 7 percent have attempted it, that is why you will, sadly, read about cyberbullying cases in the media now more than ever.

It’s good to remind ourselves of the facts, and not to forget about how serious cyberbullying is.

Think carefully before you send a text, or post an image which may directly hurt someone you know.

Peace guys

Ayisha xoxo
